I had heard it said before, but somehow it didn’t register. Just in case you’re naive like me, this post will help you as you journey towards the fulfilment of your vision.
Prior to the beginning of The ReAlignment Solution©, I had gone through a stretch of a wilderness season that thinned my social circle considerably.
But somehow these people were still connected to me virtually, and could at least see that I was launching a book.
My quick analysis of my friends and followers told me I could offload some books on pre-order basis.
The light bulb started coming on way before launch date. People were not boarding.
I understood I would probably not have quorum if I asked people to come for the launch event. I made it free and offered free refreshments.
As you plan your strategy, be open to studying the environment, and tweaking your execution in keeping with your unique situation.
We managed to sell at the launch, but I still had a number of books with me.
I’m a church girl, this book was meant primarily to equip the Christian, and therefore the Church should have been able to see the need for its members to have the books, right?
That was a miscalculation on my part.
I was later able to understand that the Christian book market is heavily fragmented, with each Pastor writing books primarily targeting their congregation.
I was in big trouble since I didn’t have a congregation.
You’ll ask me where were my friends, relatives and associates?
Nie reke gwere… I think people mean well, but they have been with you too long to think you can impact their lives.
I can count the number of friends or relatives who bought my book.
Is it all doom and gloom? No.
Somehow, there are a few people who have supported me greatly – ensuring the books are in key outlets, and mainly strangers or people I didn’t quite know, who believed in me and went an extra mile to extend their support.
As you pursue your vision, you will tend to have an over-expectation of certain groups of people either because you are related to have had a long-standing association.
You must understand that the depth of relationship is really not about how long you have known them, but in their capacity to see the best in you, and support and encourage you through the various seasons of life.
Your vision will test your associations. Be prepared for what that test will revealSafari Njema!
