The book had been launched and I was faced with a daunting task – getting it into the hands of readers.

My first place was, of course, to use social media. I shared testimonials, posted excerpts of the book, used my WhatsApp status, and quickly discovered I was limited – in terms of reach and influence.

I then turned to the media and social media influencers, to cover my very obvious gap.

That direction bore some fruit.

But still, I was stuck with books.

When God gives you a vision, He sets you on a journey that will have varying seasons that will test your beliefs, values and conviction. You must have the capacity to endure. You must be willing to do anything to make it come to pass.

Let me hasten to add. In book writing, you have the choice of printing a small number of books and print on demand. While this is a safer option, I think it limits the author’s capacity to stretch.

I had dared. The stakes were high. I had no choice but to keep going.

God, by His Grace, opened doors for speaking engagements and partnerships. These helped to create more awareness and push sales.

Then, of course, there were people who didn’t know me, had never heard about me, but went to bookshops – and were drawn by the quality of the book.

You started off on a journey and are wondering how to overcome the challenges. Your mind must be able to envision taking possession, your heart must be full of faith, and you must have an unwavering desire.

That is what has sustained me through the tough journey of being a Christian author.
