We live in times when the pressure to keep up is high.
There is an almost insistent sound that says ‘Keep pushing the limits’, ‘Keep raising the bar’, ‘Keep going’….and Stay Consistent.
It almost feels like the wheel of life keeps moving, and whether it keeps spinning or not, is entirely dependent on us.
And while we obviously need to take responsibility, it’s okay to get off the road and give yourself time to take in your terrain.
It’s okay to Do Nothing for a moment and allow yourself to catch your breath.
The Mother’s Day season was particularly intense for me. There was quite some activity around it, and an accompanying adrenaline rush as I endeavoured to do my best to pass the message.
When it all came to a close, I honestly felt exhausted. I needed a time-out to recharge my batteries.
Then again, I kept bumping into messages about entrepreneurs needing to work every day, and messages about how important it is to stay consistent in getting yourself to work 24/7.
Deep down, I knew this wouldn’t work for me. I needed to be true to myself if I was going to function at my best.
And so, I let my gut lead me – and against ‘social media advice’ stopped to recharge.
The truth is the hustle and bustle, the constant drive to hit numbers, and crush goals will take a toll on you.
And while the crowd cheers you on, it is important to get away from it all – and allow yourself to find your centre again, to re-strategise your next move.
As you face the battle to keep up, hit goals, and pay bills, my encouragement is to allow yourself to find moments of rest.
Allow your Spirit, Soul and Body to recharge in moments of Solitude.
1 Kings 19:5-6 And as he lay and slept under a juniper tree, behold, then an angel touched him, and said unto him, Arise and eat.
And he looked, and, behold, there was a cake baken on the coals, and a cruse of water at his head. And he did eat and drink, and laid him down again.
Just like Elijah, intentionally moving away from the crowd, will allow us to recharge spiritually, physically, mentally and emotionally; and give us strength for the journey ahead.
Safari Njema and have a blessed week ahead!
