Succeeding in the Workplace

by Judy Mzungu

I’ve been out of formal employment for some time now, and now that I look back, I wish I knew about Alignment back then.

You see, I was a driven person. I excelled as a secretary, and easily learnt logistics and administration.

I was an all-rounder.

When I moved into Sales, I excelled at it. When I morphed into Marketing, I succeeded in making inroads into new markets.

I was good at my game.

I, however, did not do as well in Office Politics. I was too upfront, and let’s just say, my People skills may have been wanting.

Now that I look back, the rejection I carried in my personal life, bled into my professional life.

There’s no debate about it.

Your spiritual, personal and professional life are heavily intertwined.

Your spiritual life will guide your ethics, your personal life will guide your relationships and connectedness, and your professional life will affect your productivity.

If your spiritual or personal life is off, it will inevitably affect your performance at work.

On this Labour Day, my encouragement to you is to take time to examine your Spiritual, Personal and Professional life.

How Whole are you?

3 John 1:2 Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.

HAPPY LABOUR DAY!

I must admit, I had defined myself by my family, by my job, and now marriage. The family I came from might not have had much, but I have a strong sense of loyalty; and the sense of togetherness defined me. I loved my days of strategizing, breaking ground and closing...
